The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ekiti State Chapter, has called on lawmakers to expedite the passage of the Special Seat Bill on Women Political Representation.

The Chairperson of NAWOJ in the state, Adewumi Ademiju, made the call in a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Secretary, Funmi Falae.

Ademiju said the proposed legislation was critical to promoting gender equality and strengthening women’s participation in governance.

She explained that the bill seeks to reserve seats for women in legislative assemblies to enhance their involvement in policy formulation and national development.

According to her, increased representation of women in politics is essential for inclusive governance and sustainable political development in Nigeria.

She urged lawmakers to support the bill to ensure that women have a stronger voice in decision-making processes.

Ademiju reaffirmed the commitment of NAWOJ, Ekiti State Chapter, to advocating women’s rights and promoting inclusive governance across the state.
