Ekiti  Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has ordered the immediate commencement of the full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles.

He said the directive is from Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun in ensuring that car users are protected and safe for road users.

This is made known in a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti.

The Commissioner enjoined  all vehicle owners to ensure they comply with the directive sayiing that the Third-Party Insurance will promote road safety, provides protection for road users against liabilities arising from accidents which involve insured vehicles amongst other benefits.

He added that Vehicles without the Third-Party Insurance will be impounded and owners penalized in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner also charged police officers saddled with the enforcement responsibility across the State, tasked them to be professional, respect the rights of citizens while firmly discharging their duty.
