The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Nigeria, has engaged religious leaders in Ekiti State, emphasizing that religion plays a crucial role in shaping social behavior and attitudes toward advancing gender justice in the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the two-day event in Ado-Ekiti, which marked the 2nd edition of its Annual Dialogue, the Country Vice President and National President of FIDA Nigeria, Eliana Martins, represented by the Ekiti FIDA Chairperson, Ayobami Olowoyo-Richards, said the dialogue aims to dismantle cultural and social beliefs that promote gender inequality by engaging faith leaders as key advocates for transformation within their congregations and communities, fostering a society that upholds equity, dignity, and justice for all.
Also speaking, the project lead, Ifeayin Eze, noted that the 3 year project, now its second year seeks to scale up
Gender Based Violence prevention through the engagement of religious leaders and community gatekeepers.

He said the goal is to integrate faith and Gender Based violence prevention, using dialogue to promote safeguarding principles that can help eradicate the gbv in the state.
A Clergyman and the Chief Imam of the Government House, who both condemned gender-based violence, stated that continuous sensitization in all religious outlets will help in reducing and preventing such cases.
The event, which featured several breakout sessions, brought together religious leaders and other key stakeholders across the state.
